Up to his death in January this year, Norman Shadwell maintained a lifelong interest in art but only began to paint seriously following early retirement as City Engineer of Lancaster City Council in 1982.
His work centred around seascapes and landscapes mainly in the Lancashire area but also involved work arising from holiday visits and family visits to Scotland. He started painting and sketching in Watercolour but in recent years also developed oil painting techniques in conjunction with Martin Greenland as tutor.
