Thomas (Tom) Mitchell R.I.P.

Tom passed away last December after a car accident. He was a popular and talented artist and was a regular member of the Portrait group. His skillful and sensitive pencil drawings of people were an inspiration to those of us striving to produce anything half as good!

May 12th. Alex Jakob-Whitworth. “Charcoal horses” another new artist for LADAS this
year and again, a new focus and approach to look forward to.

April 28th 2022

Jean Pritchard will demonstrate an “animal portrait” in oils. Note, our demonstration evenings are now on Thursdays at 7.00pm.

April 2022

April 7th. Bob Henfrey. Watercolour. “Kirkcudbright”. Many of you will remember Bob as
another regular demonstrator for LADAS. We haven’t seen him for some time so, it will be good to have him back. Note, we now hold demonstrations on Thursday evenings starting at 7.00pm. Non-members are welcome to join us for a small fee of £ 3 Tea/Coffee and a biscuit are provided.

Our March demonstration is on Thursday March 17th at 7.00pm. This months demonstration will be given by Stephen Warwick who will give talk on pencil drawing and portraits. This will be Stephen’s first demonstration for the society.

Our annual exhibition at Lancaster Museum ended on the 20th of Feb. and was a great success. We thank all the staff at the Lancaster Museum for their support in facilitating the event and look forward to working with them again in the future.

Members of the Lancaster and district Art society extended their thanks to the Museum staff for their sterling work in facilitating this years exhibition.
